How to mint and redeem XAUm?
Minting XAUm
There are two methods to acquire XAUm tokens directly with Matrixdock.
Purchase XAUm tokens using Stablecoins: You are able to purchase XAUm directly from Matrixdock with supported stablecoins such as USDC and USDT. Matrixdock will perform the procurement of physical bars and issue the tokens to your wallet. The purchase price will be dependent on our metal resource partner, which might differ from spot market prices.
Tokenizing Existing LBMA Gold: As an existing asset owner possessing an account with our partner vaults, a transfer of certified LBMA gold from your account to Matrixdock can be executed for tokenization. This may be subject to quality and due diligence checks.
Redeeming XAUm
There are two methods to redeem XAUm tokens directly with Matrixdock.
Redeeming into Stablecoins: You are able to redeem XAUm directly with Matrixdock into supported stablecoins such as USDC and USDT. Matrixdock will perform the sale of physical bars and transfer the stablecoins to your wallet. The sale price will be dependent on our metal resource partner, which might differ from spot market prices.
Redeeming into physical LBMA gold: Users will be required to transfer sufficient quantities of XAUm tokens to cover the gold bar in fine troy oz weight plus the redemption fee. Available bars to be redeemed will be provided upon request and subject to inventory availability.
What are the fees charged?
Minting / Redemption Fee
A fee of 0.25% will be charged for each mint or redemption order. If a user wants to mint or redeem an exact amount of XAUm that corresponds to a particular physical LBMA gold bar, additional XAUm tokens will be required in excess of the fine weight to cover for the mint or redemption fees.
No Management Fee
Currently, there are no management fees for XAUm tokens.
However, as there are costs associated with holding and vaulting, the management fee rate may be subject to change based on market conditions, and any changes will be communicated to token holders through official channels with at least 30 days notice.
No Transfer Fees
There are no additional fees charged by Matrixdock when XAUm tokens are transferred between wallets or traded on exchanges. Network gas fees would be applicable to the initiator of the transfer transaction.
